HISTORY
TR3EES was founded by Scott Saville and Jennifer Homcy, who strangely and much to the delight of their parents, both popped out GR3EEN. A lifetime of searching for fulfillment brought them both to tropical and green Hawaii where they blended in well with the scenery. Realizing that they had many things in common, Scott and Jen paired up their unique styles on a venture for change.
With intense passions for the ocean and environment and after several years as dedicated volunteers that learned a lot from our greening experiences working with the Kokua Hawaii Foundation's Kokua Festival and other events, the obvious dilemma of being GR3EEN led these two to limitless ideals on how to accomplish their dreams. They realized the outreach and educational potential to create a company that facilitates a less wasteful society, awareness, and education through leadership and event gatherings.
The meaning of the company name came from local pigeon slang in Hawaii. The number 3 is usually pronounced "tree." When considering "E" words like engage, enrich, enliven, educate, evolve, environment and so on, we thought of the three "E's" (based on the 3 R's ). The three E's just rolled out to TR3EES. The "3" represents a backwards "E" and was the obvious choice to represent the 3volution of the event planning process and the need to change the disposable habits of our society.
Trees are a symbol of many things and embody the philosophy of TR3EES: Deeply rooted, community, purification, a place of rest and shade, shelter and resources, the innocence of childhood, and the gift of life. They also present us with an opportunity to offset, some of the day to day global destruction of valuable carbon fixers. TR3EES focuses on native species restoration in the communities where we work, and germinate many of the trees we replace here in Hawaii. Contact us to donate trees for our carbon offsetting and native species restoration programs.
